At Pfotenherz d.o.o. Zenica, we are dedicated to the welfare and rescue of dogs in Zenica. Our mission arises from a pressing need to address the growing population of stray dogs and ensure their well-being.
We have partnered with the City in 2022 to manage the shelter, where abandoned dogs find refuge and care. Since June 1, 2023, we have undertaken various initiatives to improve the shelter's facilities and enhance the lives of its residents:
Constructed wooden shelters for all 154 dogs in the facility.
Expanded shelter capacity from 100 to 150 dogs. Implemented comprehensive video surveillance for enhanced security.
Renovated interior spaces for better comfort and hygiene.
Conducted extensive repairs and upgrades to the shelter infrastructure.
Rescued and sterilized approximately 200 stray dogs from the streets.
Despite our efforts, challenges persist, including constraints on resources and infrastructural limitations. We continue to navigate legal requirements regarding admitting new dogs, in spite all these challenges. Our commitment to the 'no-kill shelter' principle remains unwavering, but financial constraints interfere with our ability to sustain operations effectively.
